Chamber Awards $5,000 in Scholarships in Iquitos, Perú

The Peruvian Chamber of Commerce of California (PCCC) Scholarship Committee has selected Aleardo Bartens Ferrando (1.Iquitos.pdf) and Julissa Juvitza Chanchari Urrea (2.Iquitos.pdf), students attending Universidad Nacional de la Amazonía Peruana-Iquitos (UNAP-Iquitos), for this year’s Herman L. Jesson Memorial Scholarships at UNAP-Iquitos. Meeting on Thursday, August 22, 2013, at Anticucheria Peruvian restaurant in Norwalk, the PCCC committee chose each student for an award of $2,500.00. This was the third year the PCCC was making the scholarship presentations at UNAP-Iquitos. Read more


Asking Cosponsorship For Peruvian Paso Horse Event

Dear Friends,

The Peruvian Paso horse and Peruvian food and drink will be featured at a welcoming party for the national horse show this October. Nancy Gaelen of Nanmade Entertainment has requested our cosponsorship and financial assistance for a welcoming party for the show, to be held on October 4, 2013, at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center. The horse show, which will be continuing through October 6, will include horse owners, breeders and riders from throughout the U.S. and Canada competing for best of breed.Gaelen says, “I have been working on creating a very cultural Peruvian evening. I plan to celebrate the culture and spirit of this noble breed and introduce Ana Maria Garica Montero. Her photographs of the Peruvian horse capture the spirit of the breed that we all strive for. Here we can all celebrate the Peruvian Paso and create an opportunity for Ana Maria to photograph Peruvians at ranches here in the U.S. These photos will be added to her already touring exhibition. Peruvian Chamber presents two $2,500 scholarships in Puno ceremony

In a Puno, Peru ceremony, the Peruvian Chamber of Commerce of California (PCCC) has awarded scholarships to two students attending Universidad Nacional del Altiplano, Puno. On January 9, 2013, PCCC Pres. Julian Hanberg presented $2.500.00 each in Cesar Herz Memorial Scholarship funds to Madelin Hancco Salazar and Tanya Luz Villanueva Alvarado. Read more

Peruvian Chamber Honors Sofia Mulanovich; First South American to Win a World Surfing Title

Peruvian Sofia Mulanovich, the first South American to capture a world surfing title, was the guest of honor at a dinner sponsored by the Peruvian Chamber of Commerce of California (PCCC) at 7 p.m. Friday, August 3, 2012. The program, including awards presentation, speeches by Peruvian Consul-General Liliana Cino and other dignitaries and live entertainment, was presented at Hotel Huntington Beach. Read more

La Cámara de Comercio Peruano Californiana (PCCC) ha seleccionado a dos estudiantes que asisten a la Universidad Nacional de la Amazonía Peruana (UNAP) de Iquitos para su segunda edición de Becas anuales Herman L. Jesson Memorial de $ 2,500.00 cada una. La beca está dirigida a ayudar a los estudiantes peruanos que siguen carreras relacionadas con viajes y turismo en Iquitos y la región circundante del Amazonas en el noreste de Perú. Read more


Kina Malpartida Honored

Dear Friends,

We deeply appreciate all who joined us at 7 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2011, at Lawry’s Prime Rib restaurant in Beverly Hills for a Peruvian Chamber of Commerce of California (PCCC) dinner honoring Peruvian boxer Kina Malpartida, the women’s super featherweight world champion.

Among the evening’s highlights, Peruvian Ambassador Jorge Bayona gave a heartfelt speech, former PCCC Pres. Jaime Prieto gave Kina the Tumi USA Award, and Peruvian singer/songwriter Andrea Andrea entertained the audience of 73 persons with accompaniment by Chilean guitarist Pedro Castex. Latin Business Association Board Member Humberto Castrillon made a presentation, international broadcaster and former Miss Peru International Jackeline Cacho gave a greeting, and Hispanic Ministry leader Xenia Martinez led a prayer. Kina Malpartida Dinner Event

Dear Friends,

On October 24, 2009, the Peruvian Chamber of Commerce of California (PCCC) held a dinner honoring Peruvian sports hero Alejandro “Alex” Olmedo, who became the first Hispanic winner of the Wimbledon men’s tennis championship in 1959 by defeating Rod Laver, considered by many to be the greatest tennis player of all time, in straight sets.

On Saturday, February 26, 2011, the PCCC invites you to join us at Lawry’s the Prime Rib restaurant in Beverly Hills to honor another Peruvian sports hero: Kina Malpartida, World Boxing Association (WBA) Women’s Super Featherweight World Champion. Read more
